Hearn Family Glazing

About Us

Hearn Family Glazing is an independent stained glass studio set up by Dan Hearn, who specialises in the design, manufacture and maintenance of Leaded Lights and Stained Glass. With a career spanning over a decade, Dan has worked in several facets of the glazing world, and studied Architectural Glass Design at UWTSD in Swansea. Most recently he departed his position as a conservator at one of the largest stained glass studios in the UK, where he helped to preserve Stained Glass in churches, cathedrals and royal households across the country. He's now intent to focus on his own stained glass art and design, both in public and domestic settings.

Our services are not limited to  bespoke design or the fabrication of entire panels. We also offer a range of repair and maintenance services, including weather proofing and re-pointing, and always use traditional materials. Repairs to single panes can be carried out in-situ, with very little disruption. We will always endeavour to match the broken glass exactly, and when not able to, we will use the best possible option from a range of mouth blown and machined rolled glass. Often an on-site survey will be required in order to gauge the extent of repair needed, where we will discuss any and all options before submitting a no obligation quote.

Bespoke Designs

We offer bespoke designs for Leaded Lights and Stained glass art, tailored to your specific requirements and preference. Whether its a traditional Victorian, Edwardian or Art Nouveau design, or something more contemporary, we will welcome your input into the design process and colour palette in order to create something truly unique. Stained Glass need not be limited to its traditional setting; it can be framed and hung in front of a natural light source, or be LED back lit, to form a totally individual piece of art.

Courses

Dan offers an introductory course into the craft of Leaded Lights and Stained Glass. Over two days,  students will produce a design from which they will work. Learning how to cut glass, form the lead matrix and solder their own panel to take home with them. The course can be catered to all abilities.  If you or someone you know would be interested in learning more, please get in touch for further details.
